We all want to create a favorable impression. In an interview for a much-desired job, you can imagine the negative image that a sloppy, careless manner would convey to the personnel evaluator.
The same holds when you present yourself in any form of print.
What if your business e-mail, brochure, or card were riddled with grammatical and spelling blunders? The impression on a prospective customer would run something like this: “I’ll have nothing to do with a sloppy, inferior, inattentive fool who can’t even promote himself, let alone my business! He’ll ruin me!”
Create a solid, lasting, positive image for yourself and your business with accurate proofread/edited content.
Second, no one knows more than your potential reader or customer that time is precious. Get to the point. Too many words or sentences give the impression that you lack focus. Wise, economic use of words show that you understand business, know what you are doing, are frugal with the customer’s time and money.
Third, a meticulous work-ethic reinforces the sense of a conscientious character. For example, your interview with your potential customer went well. Next, handing your carefully prepared business card or brochure reinforces your favorable impression by demonstrating that customer needs and care are of highest priority and that extra effort is put in for the customer. Take the time to present yourself well in print.
In this competitive business world, getting your message across clearly and correctly is of bottom-line importance. A second pair of eyes looks over your messaging and catches any mistakes, big or small and easily overlooked. We are proofreaders/editors. We are that second pair of eyes.
