Oops!--A Second Pair of Eyes Could Have Helped

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airlines recently admitted to a simple but obvious error. One of its planes had the airline’s name painted on its side, but the letter “F” was missing:
CATHAY PACIIC
Once the error was discovered, the plane had to go “back to the shop” for repainting—a waste of time, labor, and money. More than that, the incident conveyed an initial impression of inattentiveness to detail, carelessness. In this commercially competitive age, this is not a good message to transmit to the business public. (Good for Cathay Pacific: They publicly admitted their error!)
A second pair of eyes could have caught this error early, while the plane was still in the shop, before the error became public. A little extra attention to detail can save you from embarrassing mistakes.
A proofreader can supply that second pair of eyes for your business. A person directly involved in a project--a brochure, business card, or company website—is more prone to overlook matters of detail, obvious errors. An outsider like a proofreader can pick them up.
The proofreader’s second pair of eyes will help polish your image and promote your business by filtering out mistakes and avoiding bad impressions.
